(The following write-up is based on a discussion that happened in Kerala Jyotisham FB group)
Prasad Federer:
Would like to know, the actual meaning of these mantras:
//PURUSHAMEDHA
"vasubhir devebhir devataya gayatrena tva chandasa yunajmi vasantena tvartuna havisa dlksayami"
As the devas being deity, As the gayatri being the meter, I yoke you, As the spring the being oblation, I consecrate you,
“The Queen, she is talking to the horse while she is rubbing him with nice musk.
She is telling him why they are going to sacrifice him, and telling the listeners too. But that is not where it stops.” He started to chuckle
. “Then she starts to talk dirty to the stallion, she tells him it is time for f***ing. Oh! you don’t believe me?
Well the Vedas read:
a'ham ajani garbhadham a tvam ajasi garbadham tau saha caturah padah sam pra sarayavahai.
Which means: Come on, stallion! Mate with me, you stud! I’m asking you sweetly for mating: let the two of us get busy and entwine our limbs. "//
Does Veda mantras have these kind if vulgar meanings?
I think its the wrong interpretation of those "saayippanmar".
Any vidwans from this group ,please throw some light on this ? _/\_
Sreenadh OG:
First of all this is an astrology group and it is not our duty to protect vedas or to define, redefine or provide commentary to vedic slokas in such a way only the greatness of vedas would be reflected.
That said, it should be remembered that Vedas are prayer books or collection prayers. And in prayers or prayer books you won't usually find such vulgarities. So chances are very less that you would find such story like narrative in historic settings etc (such as found in a story book or books like bible) in vedas. Further vedic prayers are poems and one can find extensive use of symbolism, allegory etc in those poetic prayers, which again leaves a lot of room for various interpretation of the very same lines.
I haven't checked the above suktas. Someone who had done the same may clarify further. But first hand thought is that above interpretation is absurd and impossibility in a text like Veda.
Prasad Federer:
Thanks , Sreenadh OG ji, for the explanation. Yeah, this is Astrology group , somehow i thought , some Vaideekas may be here who are well versed in Vedas, Shodasacharangal and Astrology .. I was shocked to see this kind of interpretation from a Videsi guy when I searched this mantra in google, and wanted to know whats the Truth. Hence posted in this sacred forum. Now onwards, I will try to avoid Vedic related stuff and try to learn related subject from here.

I think you got the above extract from the write up named Aswamedha describing the interaction between the so called ISKON american guru named Sankarsana Das Adhikari Prabhu and his disciples. Right? Here is the profile of the said bald man named Sankarsana das http://www.ultimateselfrealization.com/about.htm
Here is another description about the jobs he was into and from 2004 the full time preacher of ISKON.-
//Sankarshan Das Adhikari received instruction from Vishnujana Swami, also a disciple of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. He served ISKCON in various capacities from 1972 to 1982, including as an assistant to Tamal Krishna Goswami. He worked as a Computer Programmer from 1986-1990, was an award winning salesperson for MCI Telecom from 1991-1993. He started and maintained the ISKCON centre in Norman, Oklahoma, USA, in 1982-1984, reopened ISKCON Austin in 1991, and ran a successful home-based part-time travel business to support ISKCON Austin. He worked to bring the Back to Godhead magazine to print, and was #1 in the worldwide distribution of BTG magazine subscriptions. He was the Sales Manager for BTG magazine from 1991 to 1994. In December 2000, on Gita Jayanti day, the Governing Body Commission of ISKCON gave its blessings for Sankarshan Das to begin initiating disciples. In January 2004, he retired from business to become a full time preacher.// https://www.last.fm/music/Sankarshan+Das/+wiki
Prasad Federer:
Yes, these mantras are taken from while performing Aswamedha Yagam [ I think its from 40-aam Parcham of Yajus ] . Not only about Aswam , it talks about Rudra, n other dieties. "like Rudrebhir Devataya Thrayishtubhena Yaa Chandasaaanujasmi" ..etc etc... About this guy Sankarshan Das :, I have seen his profile, but not fully aware of his works ..Anyway, I will try to find out from outside, may try to talk to anyone who has done deep dive into this especially in Yajus. _/\_ thanks again for your time!

This is a pdf under discussion from which Prasad Federer got the above extract. https://martinetpress.files.wordpress.com/.../asvamedha.pdf
Read that document to get a better understanding about this ISKON arsehole working as preacher and hates Vedic religion, but still conducts the rituals (such as making people horse-fuck) based on his erroneous understanding just for money! Idiot! Arsehole! Criminal! (How un-holly and un-hindu the word preacher itself is I wonder! Preachers are usually present in terrorist religions followed by semitic arseholes which believes that all the other paths are wrong, and alas ISKON is one such semitic like diversion originated from india and loved by the western people coming out of the semitic religions like Christianity and islam. Jump one well and fall into the next kind of stuff!)
//. With over 50 initiated disciples worldwide, Sankarshan Das Adhikari continues to provide spiritual guidance and practical advice on becoming fully God conscious. Sankarshan Das Adhikari is well-known in the Krishna Consciousness and other communities worldwide for being an "Internet Guru",//
Now for argument sake let us assume that horse-fucking is described in Vedas (even though there is a strong argument from Arya samajis and Nirukta vadis that it is NOT), why should an American ISKON priest like Sankarshan Das (what is this western arsehole's real name?) should convince and conduct such a rituals? Know it clearly - in that write-up it is clearly mentioned that he organized, conducted and witnessed such as ritual. And most probably might have fucked the mare or horse himself too! Arsehole! It is such greedy corrupt arseholes who would do any thing for money is the cause for corrupt religions. And certainly the Semitic like ISKON is a good example, especially with such arseholes present!
Those who argue that Aswamedha was something else or that the world Aswa itself is alluring the world (there is enough evidence and vedic suktas to support their view) may give you the alternate meaning of these suktas.
Me on the other hand is of the opinion that in the ancient past there did exist many positive and negative customs. Customs originated out of the right and wrong understanding of the ancient guidance. One who is living in this era should take the good thing from the guidance of the past and discard the bad. That is about guidance. Regarding customs (achara) it differs from age to age, and the ancient customs of the past (whether good or bad) may not suite us at all. So one need to be wise enough and live in the present.
Hope you see the point.
Prasad Federer:
In Bangalore, Hyd etc we can see these ISKON bhakts, who are doing marketing stuff, selling bhagavadgita on the roads ! when we go inside their temple, everything is a business.. There exists no SANATHANA DHARMA inside their temple or in their minds !!!
Sreenadh OG:

One of the meanings/interpretations i heard that, there are some hidden meanings inside these mantras/suktas. It talks about Paramaatman ONLY....(its not my view, someone who studied some adhyayams of Yajus ...when i talked to him .[ i just quoted him, here ]..) _/\_
Sreenadh OG:
Another interpretation: https://www.facebook.com/notes/ramakrishna-sharma/what-exactly-is-the-ashwamedha/10203419697799518/
Prasad Federer:
Eeven i remember , the many Swahas thing from aswmedha : Lalaataya Swaha, Lalaamaya Swaha, Valgathe Swaha, Keedrushaya Swaha, Thaadrushaaaya Swhah,Anuroopaya Swaha,Viroopaya Swaha, Bhroobhrakngya Swaha ..etc ...While performing the horse-sacrifice[symbolic or not] , the Yajamanan has to do the homam...
Sreenadh OG:
You take up a Hindu vedic text of vedic past BS 3000 or beyond and after a whole lot of research and lot of sleepless nights finds a single sloka that can be interpreted as horse fucking and start blaming that the text is unethical!
You can take up any sacred text of any other religion (whether ancient or modern) and almost in every page you can find things like father fucking daughters, mother fucking sons, brothers fucking sisters, gods mating with animals, entire countries destroyed and people killed for no reason, curses annihilating entire sects or races for nor reason, bloodshed cruelty cheating and lies in almost every page! But still you consider those religions as good ethical!
What kind of logic leads us all?! Let us be brave and wise enough to distinguish gold with a bit of mud on top of it from mud with a bit of gold coated on top of it!
